On behalf of UBC Interprofessional Continuing Education, we are
excited to announce that the Advance Notice/Call for Posters for
the Positive Aging Conference (May 24th & 25th, 2008 in Vancouver,
BC, Canada) is now available online at www.interprofessional.ubc.ca.
The aim of this national conference is to bring together an interdisciplinary
audience of health professionals and researchers to address some
of the issues and challenges facing the aging population today.
Hear about the most current research findings from leading experts,
learn how research can be translated into practice, and discover
useable resources to promote healthier, more positive living for
Canada’s older adult population. The importance of an interdisciplinary
team approach to care giving and research will be emphasized.
Please note that the deadline for poster submissions is March 15th,
2008, so remember to send them in before the deadline!

The 16th Annual David Berman Memorial Concurrent
Disorders Conference
When: May 26th – 28th, 2008
Where: The Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites, Vancouver,
BC, Canada
A person suffering from concurrent disorder has to fight both a
mental illness as well as a substance use addiction. This conference
will provide advanced training in concurrent disorders, including
in-dept exploration of integrated treatment. Various concurrent
disorder treatment topics will be explored including the various
methods of screening and treating patients, the impact on family,
and ways to support patients. Fellow clinicians and specialists
will share skills and information that will provide participants
with the latest knowledge on resources and treatments against concurrent
disorders.
