President - Susan Hogman, MSW, RSW
Susan is the Director of Social Work and Adult Services
at the BC Centre for Ability. She has worked in a variety
of acute care settings over the past 30 years, and now works
in a community environment. She is passionate about the profession
of social work, and committed to imbedding social work into
the fabric of health care. |

Vice-President - Angie Kwok, MSW
Angie is the Director of Social Work and Support Services
for the Centre for Ability in Vancouver, BC. She received
her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University Of Wisconsin
and has been working with children and adults with special
needs for the past twenty years. Angie has been extremely
active in promoting family-centred practice in BC. She conducts
many workshops for health care professionals on "Cultural
Competency" and "Building an Effective Partnership
with Families." She has published numerous articles on
family-centred practice and building on family strength.
Angie also sits on the professional advisory boad of BC Epilepsy
Society. |

Membership - Janet Coghlan, MSW
Janet completed her initial social work training at the
University of Wales and then her MSW at UBC (2001). She immigrated
to Canada from Wales in 1979 and worked at Queen's Park Hospital,
then Royal Columbian Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, all
in New Westminster, BC. Janet was the community palliative
care social worker for New Westminster for 10 years and is
now retired. |

Joint-Secretary - Tracy Koebel, BSW
Tracy is a graduate of the UBC School of Social Work. She
moved to Victoria in the summer of 2007 and is employed at
the Broadmead Lodge, a 225 bed Long Term Care facility with
an expertise in dementia care. This is an exciting position
that will provide an opportunity to participate in research
projects related to dementia and end of life care for residents,
as well as staff education. Her previous experience includes
child welfare, community social work, hospital acute care
and 10 years experience in Long Term Care. Tracy's main areas
of interest include gerontology and palliative care.

Sandra completed her BSW through the University of Calgary
and her Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of
Northern British Columbia. Sandra has been employed at the
Prince George Regional Hospital as a social worker/chief social
worker since 1994. She also is a sessional instructor in the
social work program at the University of Northern British
Columbia. Sandra's primary interests lie in acute care social
work and geriatrics. |

Treasurer - Val Upton
Valerie has a Masters degree in Social Work and has worked
in acute care and community rehabilitation for 20 years. Valerie’s
primary area of interest is in strengthening and supporting
families restructuring their lives when a member has been
injured. She currently works with the families of children/youth
with acquired brain injuries, and has worked in pediatric
rehabilitation for 14 years. Valerie has an interest in research
and best practice. She is the primary contact for the provincial
toll free resource line in BC for pediatric brain injury.

Director - Esther Krahn
Esther is the Manager of Social Work for the Interior Health
Authority, South Okanagan. Esther is also an instructor at
the University College of the Fraser Valley, teaching Counselling
Skills and Group Facilitation Skills for Addictions Work.
Her primary interests are Social Work professional practice
and standards, including the Social Work role and scope of
function on interdisciplinary teams. |

Director - Cheryl Joliffe
Currently the Social Work Professional Practice Leader Providence
Health Care at one of the largest Faith Based Organizations
in Canada. This role is responsible for social work practice
across acute care, rehabilitation and residential care sites.
My clinical practice includes HIV/AIDS, Utilization Management
and Discharge Planning. My role has given me the opportunity
to work with exemplary social workers, with interdisciplinary
teams and with multiple/internal external partnerships. My
goal is to promote excellence in social work practice and
to continuously expand the medical social workers scope of
practice beyond the traditional expectations in health.
I am committed and dedicated to the profession of social work
and being on the BC Social Workers in Health Board is another
way I can support and advocate for all social workers in BC.
